The largest enterprises in Lääne-Viru county operate in the manufacturing of food products, wood and timber, furniture, metals and building materials.
In addition to the county capital Rakvere, other major business regions include cities of Kunda and Tapa, where several important industries can be found thanks to the Port of Kunda and Tapa Army Base.
Lääne-Viru county is also where the largest foreign investment in Estonia - an aspen pulp factory owned by Heinzel Group - was made.
Rakvere, being the county center, has been successfully promoting the energy-efficient renovation of apartment buildings, using innovative and energy-efficient solutions and might be one of the first Estonian cities where most of the apartment buildings have been renovated.
Our county is home to many successful foreign companies:
Jeld-Wen - a United States wood and timber company, production of doors and windows
Estonian Cell (Heinzel Group) - aspen pulp manufacturing, Austrian company
Kunda Nordic Cement (Heidelberg Cement Group) - mining and manufacturing of building materials
Flexa - Danish manufacturer of children's furniture
Trendsetter - Producer of pillows and blankets from the United Kingdom
HKScan - a meat processing company from Finland
Dicro - an electronics company from Finland
